Niobium is a soft, grey, crystalline, ductile transition metal which is used in various superconducting materials. Its melting point is 2468℃ and boiling point 4742℃. It has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, high corrosion resistance and good ductility. Therefore, niobium and its alloy are widely used in electronics, iron and steel industry, chemical, jewelry, superconducting, engineering, aviation, aerospace industry etc.
Niobium rod is worked cold from ingot to final diameter. Forging, rolling, swaging, and drawing are used singularly or in combination to reach the desired size. We produce niobium bar, rod, wire which are mainly used for producing special steel, high-temperature alloy, magnetic materials and other Nb-bearing alloy. And we also produce Niobium as rod, wire, plate, sheet, tube, disc, sputtering targets, machined parts and other shapes are available by request.
Rod is normally supplied with a forged surface above 1-3/8" diameter, and a swaged or drawn finish in smaller diameters. Rod, preferably un-annealed, may be centerless ground to improve diameter tolerances. The minimum diameter for centerless grinding is .125". Rod to a maximum of 1/4" and wire may be supplied in coils or straightened and cut to length.
